Sustainable Bainbridge is part of a growing coalition of Island organizations working together to oppose Initiative 2117 which will come before Washington voters this fall. In fact, an UNPRECEDENTED coalition of more than 450 organizations and Tribal Nations have united to reject I-2117.  (Go here and scroll down for an alphabetical listing.) This initiative seeks to overturn the Climate Commitment Act, which puts a fee on the state’s largest polluters and has so far raised $2 billion that is being invested in conservation, public transit, decarbonization, air quality, wildfire prevention, energy assistance programs to low-income households, salmon recovery, and more.

If Initiative 2117 passes, it would repeal the Climate Commitment Act, prevent other carbon pricing laws in Washington in the future, and eliminate billions of dollars in funding for these essential efforts to combat the climate crisis.  Learn more about this initiative and the growing coalition of organizations and businesses opposing it at https://no2117.com/.
